The Obsidi Awards, presented by BMO, celebrates the movers and shakers making significant impacts in their community. This year, they’ve:

Canvas For Change: Black Youth Art Celebration
Making Change is thrilled to announce its partnership with MacLaren Art Centre, Shak’s World Community Centre, and Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library, which is offering a special art program tailored for creative youth across Simcoe County! In honour of Black History Month, the program invites Black youth aged 13 to 18 years old to participate in a series of workshops designed to create a distinctive work of art led by Toronto-based artist mentor Ashante Blackwood.
The program's primary focus is to celebrate the artistic abilities of creative Black youth who utilize art as a means to amplify their voices. Through a sequence of workshops scheduled for December and January, Ashante Blackwood will provide guidance to the youth in conceptualizing, communicating, and visually portraying ideas that will shed light on their unique perspectives and stories. The ultimate goal is to initiate important conversations within the community through these artistic expressions.
Admission: FREE, materials provided by the MacLaren Art Centre
Max Capacity: 20 youth participants
Ages: 13 to 18 years old
Artist Mentor: Ashante Blackwood

FREE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Workshop for Black History Month
Taijah Cox-Armstrong, the Executive Director at I Will Make a Difference, has revealed an exceptional and valuable opportunity for elementary schools. This initiative offers a FREE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Workshop/Assembly to foster a more inclusive and culturally aware educational environment for students aged 7-14. This special event is scheduled for Black History Month in 2024.
The DEI Workshop / Assembly Includes:
The importance of diversity
Embracing differences
Promoting empathy and respect
Combating stereotypes and biases
Celebrating individual identities
Interactive Activities: Their engaging and age-appropriate activities make learning fun and memorable

Take Your Place - Achieve!
Join attendees for South Western Ontario's largest women's event! It will inspire individuals to reach their goals and unlock their full potential with keynote speaker Jully Black!
