CivicAction’s HireNext Job Assessment Tool
Did you know that 50% of young people reported job titles such as “associate” or “analyst” would cause them to lose interest in a job posting?
To address these barriers, CivicAction created the HireNext Job Posting Assessment (JPA), providing immediate and tailored recommendations to employers who want to improve their job postings and ultimately attract diverse, young talent.
Upload your job posting to the Job Posting Assessment for recommendations on how to attract the talent you are looking for! Start your HireNext journey today at https://bit.ly/CAHireNext
MLSE’s Wayne and Theresa Embry Fellowship
Applications for the Wayne and Theresa Embry Fellowship are open now through to February 25th, 2022! The Wayne and Theresa Embry Fellowship provides two Canadians the opportunity to gain firsthand experience with the Toronto Raptors in a professional basketball operations environment. The Raptors commit to granting at least one of the fellowship opportunities to an individual who identifies as part of a marginalized and/or racialized group. It is a 12-month contract in which the fellows spend half the year rotating through different departments within the organization (Coaching, Scouting, Medical, Equipment, PR, etc.) and the other half of the year focused on their area of interest or expertise. The role starts in July 2022 and comes with a $35, 000 CAD stipend.
MLSE will be hosting a virtual informational session on January 26th at 7:00 PM EST (click here to register). This will be an opportunity to chat with current fellows and learn more about the fellowship/application.
If you know someone who would be a great fit, please encourage them to apply here. Follow @RaptorsFellow on Instagram and Wayne and Theresa Embry Fellowship on Facebook for updates.
Deloitte’s Black in Canada Webinar 2.0
In Deloitte’s first Black in Canada webinar, they talked about the racist frameworks and structures in the workplace. Now, one year later, they hope to track their progress in dismantling anti-Black racism from both an organizational and cultural perspective. Is there room for improvement? And how do we accelerate our impact?
In this follow-up discussion, Deloitte will acknowledge the challenges they’ve faced throughout their journey of education and action against anti-Black racism, as well as recognize the strides they’ve made. Click here to register.
Program Opportunity: The Comfortable Race Conversation Process
The Comfortable Race Conversation Process is for individuals who are looking to understand diversity, equity, and inclusion by having real conversations about race, making the uncomfortable, comfortable.
This six-module program with pre-recorded lessons accessed weekly, supplementary materials and homework, includes what is missing in conversations about race - our humanity, our emotional, physical responses and psychological safety necessary for connection.
Six, 1.5-hour Practice Circles facilitated by Natalie Haynes is what makes this program unique. Participants will have 9 hours to experientially lean in, in a psychologically safe container, and connect with other races around their relationship to the concept of race.
Access to the first module of "The Comfortable Race Conversation Process" begins on January 26th, 2022. Practice Circles will connect for 6 Wednesdays from 7:30pm- 9pm, starting February 2nd, 2022.
Click here to find out more information about the program.
