Thank you to Teshyla Bailey for joining us last week to share her personal growth journey from growing up in Rexdale, to falling in love with community work and founding her own grassroots organization Sis to Sis Toronto.
Sis to Sis Toronto is a grassroots organization that supports young Black and racialized women on their journey of personal development through culturally relevant programs and initiatives.
Their services are directed towards young women in transitional periods of growth, who are aspiring to develop a stronger sense of self, while connecting with others on the same journey.
Community members describe Sis to Sis as one of the few places in the city where they feel safe, supported, and able to show up authentically. The goal of the programming is to support women in applying the principles of positive self-talk, boundary-setting, financial wellness, and goal setting, while encouraging them to reach their full potential.
For anyone who has follow up questions, please see Sis to Sis Toronto’s contact information below.

Park Street Education’s Giving Tuesday Campaign
Last week, BTI joined Park Street Education in celebrating Giving Tuesday! Park Street Education is committed to removing barriers to and closing the equity gap in education in Ontario (and in the world one day)! At Park Street, they have a 1:1 enrolment model, meaning that for every tuition-paying student, they sponsor one full-time student from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto (lovingly called Littles). Park Street’s goal is to raise $15,000 – this is what it costs to send one Little to Park Street for the year. Donate today to support a Little’s learning – whether that’s $10, $1000 or anywhere in between (and get a tax receipt too) – because an education is the best gift you can give.
These Littles, who are often from underserved populations, face inequities in the education system everyday; inequities that have only been exacerbated by the pandemic. The Park Street Student Scholarship Fund supports these Littles by providing them with a high quality and progressive education to help guide them to graduation.
Need more convincing? Watch this video to hear from some of Park Street’s Littles.
Park Street is committed to removing all barriers to education – are you in?
